“All problems are psychological, but all solutions are spiritual.”
~Thomas Hora, MD
Interested in working with me? Here’s what you need to know about private sessions.
I absolutely know that your true nature, who you really are, is already whole, peaceful, and free of stress, anxiety, and confusion. You’re spacious beyond measure, overflowing with infinite potential. The everyday ease you long for? I know that it’s possible for you, and I hold the space for your deepest healing and freedom.
“Crossing paths with Gail has been a blessing. Her approach is kind, empathetic and direct. She has instilled self-care tools and guidance in me that will be a lifelong gift. Gail helped me rediscover and experience life as my true, well self. Working with her was an absolute pleasure, and I highly recommend her.” ~I.L.
Whether you’ve had a taste of your true nature or not, programmed habits in your mind and body take time to unwind. We support this unwinding by inviting the parts of your experience hiding out in the shadows into the light of full conscious awareness. This is what heals separation.
You begin to be aware of the safe and loving space beyond any conditioning that is infinitely greater than your personal problems. It’s always been here; you’ve just been too distracted by your thoughts to notice it. More and more deeply, you realize and live as your essence that is already fully alive, peaceful, and at ease.
“With Gail’s assistance and advice over the past 4 years I have healed from a near fatal illness and post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition, she helped me transition from a stressful career into a more meaningful lifestyle. I am grateful for Gail’s kind and thoughtful insight, supportive words, and patience when I was stuck or when my ego got in the way. She is an amazing teacher, writer, and observer of life. I highly recommend her blog, private sessions, and counseling. She has helped me change my life.” ~Megan Mori, author
Our Work Together
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”
In our work together in private sessions, we don’t strive to change or improve anything. Instead, as we deeply welcome everything as it is, the inner fight with your experience falls away naturally. You’ll learn to make peace with your past, with self-defeating thoughts, and with painful emotions living deep inside you. Everything is embraced in the deepest acceptance.
“As a doctoral student of clinical psychology, and a client of many past therapists, I have had the most transformative psychological experiences by working with Dr. Brenner. The unconditional positive regard that I feel from her inspires me to accept and love myself the way I am, and make positive changes in my life. I value her wisdom, passion for this work, and her natural way of facilitating insight with me. What I find most refreshing about her as a therapist is that she is not attached to the stories and endless analyses that I can make to find reason for my behaviors. Instead, she constantly reminds of me of my “true self,” which lies behind all of the programming — a self that has the freedom to act according to personal values, and most of all, a self that is special and full of goodness. Since I have seen her, I have felt like a light is being brought out in me.” ~I.T.
With loving care, we open to the ways you suffer: the subtle depression or anxiety, the fear that holds you back, believing you’re broken or not enough, feeling stuck or confused, unfinished grief. Understanding exactly how these patterns work reveals the path to being free of them.
Eventually, you may find you’re no longer interested in the negative and limiting stories that have become your reality. You know how to welcome painful feelings that arise so they don’t grip you. And you begin to show up fresh and open, with enthusiasm and zest for life.
Once you’ve stopped looking through the veils of your conditioning, you’re much more able to flow with things as they arise, rather than resisting them. You’re naturally more loving, compassionate, accepting, open, and clear.
“I’m so grateful to Gail for her gentle, powerful healing presence. Though I’ve been meditating for many years, I’ve had great difficulty releasing the darkest experiences of my childhood. Whenever these early memories got triggered, I felt as if I’d ‘lose my light’ and downspiral in despair. With Gail’s sensitive, loving guidance, I was able to be fully present and shine the light in these scary, dark corners. I’ve felt freer and more whole ever since. Thank you Gail!” ~Hilary Nicholls, DC
“Gail has helped me regain my authentic self. She has facilitated my journey to inner peace and joy, to realize that I really am enough, and that my happiness resides inside myself. On this journey, I have been able to release strong resentments and remain, happy, in a marriage that I thought might be too damaged to repair. I have found the strength and courage to be ME. I continue to grow in unexpected ways under her guidance.” ~L.C.
Our work is practical and applies directly to the unfolding of your everyday life. You’ll come away with tools for addressing emotions and distorted thought patterns, fresh perspectives on new ways to be without fear driving you, and practices to support your ongoing healing into wholeness. You’ll discover that you can be fully functioning in your life without personal needs and expectations that don’t serve your happiness.
I love what I do, and you’ll find me active and engaged. I am a guide, a coach, and a cheerleader who walks with you through this process, but you need to be fully willing to do the work. An hour-long conversation now and then isn’t nearly enough to shift decades of conditioning. You must be curious and open about investigating all of your inner experience and willing to experiment with new ways of being out in the world.
“While searching the internet for helpful information on managing anxiety, I came across Gail’s website. What a great find! Her gentle yet effective suggestions impressed me immediately. I was happy to see that she was available for sessions via Skype and immediately went about scheduling, and thanks to Gail’s prompt response, set up a meeting very quickly. Our Skype session began right on time and was pleasant and comfortable…actually exceeding my expectations. I have never had an experience of one single session being so helpful! Gail has since responded to follow up emails with constructive suggestions. It is clear to me that Gail is sincerely dedicated to helping people to live their lives fully and happily. I feel so fortunate to have met her and to be learning from her.” ~Rebecca Harris

And I’m so happy to celebrate with you as the fog clears and you’re more fully your lovely vibrant self.
“Gail is an amazing therapist who is both a guide and mentor. In our private sessions, she helped me to understand my strong emotions and learn that I can simply welcome my feelings and physical sensations while remaining aware of the present moment and all of my choices. She helped me to see that I don’t have to wait for someone to change or something to happen that fixes the past and ensures the future. When I resist happiness and fun because of my past conditioning, I’m the one who is blocking my path, and I can stop, breathe, and make a different choice. Gail showed me that my journey is like a treasure hunt where each piece reveals the next, and if I go inside myself to listen carefully, I can find all of the answers.” ~S.M.
We’ll connect on Skype or FaceTime. If you are local to Santa Barbara, we may be able to meet in person. Once you contact me, I’ll ask you a few questions to make sure I’m the right person to help you.
When we decide to meet and prior to our first session, I’ll invite you to spend some time in stillness reflecting on your most burning questions and how the session can best support you.
Rather than ascribing to the conventional therapy model of one hour per week, I offer sessions as needed. We may meet once, occasionally, or on a more regular basis, depending on what we decide together.
Everything we discuss is confidential, except if you let me know that you are in danger of hurting yourself or someone else.
Fees are $185 per hour. If we meet by Skype or FaceTime, I offer a 3-session package for $510. Once we agree to meet, I’ll send you an invoice by PayPal or you can bring check or cash if we’re meeting in person.
If you need to cancel or change an appointment, please do so with at least 24 hours notice.
